The Chilimjusht Festival, held in May in the enchanting Kalash Valleys of Bumburet, Rumbur, and Birir, is a celebration of spring and fertility by the Kalash people—an ancient, polytheistic community known for their unique language, animist beliefs, and vibrant dress.
During Chilimjusht, Kalash women and men adorn themselves in dazzling black robes embroidered with colorful threads, intricate beaded headdresses, and jewelry. They gather in sacred temples for rituals, followed by exuberant group dances, singing, and prayers to deities for a fruitful year. Offerings of milk, cheese, and wheat are made to nature spirits.
